The Hard Fax Composite of home improvement industry
stocks gained 34 points in the latest week of trading, ending at 1448, and is
currently up 31 percent on the year. The
Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 173 points for the week, ending at 13610,
or plus 11 percent on the year.
Last week the market basket of 28 industry-related
stocks had 24 gainers versus only four decliners.
For this week, it remains to be seen how much an
unexpectedly good jobs report released last Friday will affect the market. Also
adding to the uncertainty in the market is the continuing economic problems in
Europe and Asia.
