Stocks Drop 35 Points
The Hard Fax Composite of home improvement industry
stocks dropped 35 points in the latest week of trading, ending at 1413, and is
currently up 28 percent on the year. The
Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 281 points for the week, ending at 13329, or plus
nine percent on the year.
Last week the market basket of 28 industry-related
stocks had 24 decliners versus only four gainers. For the year, 25 stocks are up and only three
are down.
On Monday morning of this week, retail sales figures
for September were released showing a gain for the third consecutive
month. Investors and economists are hoping
the increased retail sales are a sign of future economic growth.
