Keynote Presenters Stress Importance of Mastering the Supply Chain

Wednesday morning at the Hardlines Technology Forum®, attendees were provided with expert insight into the art and science of “Mastering Your Supply Chain.”

Two keynote speakers presented their unique perspective on the topic. Dr. Ernest Nichols, Director of the FedEx Center for Supply Chain Management at the FedEx Institute of Technology and Brian Tervo, President and CEO of TIE Commerce, presented their latest views on how to best use today’s technology to optimize supply chain management.

Dr. Nichols presented a specific lean supply chain assessment program that attendees could implement in their own organizations.

Mr. Tervo focused more on the use of electronic programs and tools to simplify the transaction process between retailers and vendors.


Retail Panel Provides Buy-Side Technology Update

A two-hour presentation by four major retail organizations on Wednesday provided Hardlines Technology Forum® manufacturer attendees with an important update on the technological status and plans of their respective companies.

On the panel were: Michelle Adams, Director, Merchandising Operations, Lowe’s; Brett Hammers, Vice President, Marketing, Orgill; Greg Linder, Director, Supply Chain Operations, True Value and Kay Williams, Vice President, Information Technology, Do it Best Corp.

The panel was moderated by John Stelzer, Director, Retail Industry Marketing, Sterling Commerce.
 


 
“How To” Do Business with True Value

On Wednesday afternoon, executives from True Value Company provided a two-part presentation for vendors on the latest methods and standards of doing business electronically with the company.

Lynn Sachs, Applications Manager and Greg Linder, Director, Supply Chain Operations, provided the update and took questions from the audience.

A major emphasis of the session was very specific instructions on how to navigate the True Value E-Invoicing website to avoid errors and payment delays.
