Home Improvement Industry Stocks Drop with Market

[Monday, October 29, 2012]  The Hard Fax Composite of home improvement industry stocks dropped 22 points in the latest week of trading, ending at 1392, and is currently up 26 percent on the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 237 points for the week, ending at 13107, or plus seven percent on the year.

Last week the market basket of 28 industry-related stocks had 20 decliners versus eight gainers. For the year, 23 stocks are up and only five are down.

Due to Hurricane Sandy, stock exchanges are closed on Monday and may remain closed through Tuesday. In the aftermath of the storm, look for a surge in sales of cleanup and damage-related products.
